The Benefits of Working in a Philippine Call Center

Posted by admin | Posted on 8:19 PM

I think that the Philippine call center industry is beneficial to a lot of Filipinos because of the numerous skills and values it equips individuals with. True, the working hours are harsh and exhausting. However, I believe that the countless of perks it gives people outweigh the various disadvantages it presents.

Philippine call center

First of all, call center training is a great way to hone and improve your English communication skills. Come on, admit it. This is a fabulous advantage for any person. We may claim that the Philippines is the best English-speaking country in Asia, but the reality is, a lot of us lack the ease and the effortlessness of conversational English. The best way to get ahead in any career is to possess a commanding presence and an impressive proficiency and mastery of the spoken and written forms of this language. So think twice before you snigger at the “fake” or “trying hard” accents of call center agents. They actually have an advantage over you.

Second, the financial compensation is better than most Filipino jobs out there. I’ve met a lot of people with impressive educational backgrounds and awe-inspiring professions. But if you ask them what their salaries are, you’d be surprised to find out that majority of them make less than Php 17,000.00 every month. Call centers compensate their agents well mainly because of the grueling shifting schedules. Aside from your usual benefits, a good call center agent makes around Php 21-25,000.00 every month. Unfair? It may seem that way for people who spent four years of their lives studying for a noble profession. But that’s how the cookie crumbles.

Third, the speed by which agents move up the career ladder is extremely fast! In other jobs, it may take you more than three years to get a good promotion. In the BPO industry, a lot of managers and supervisors are in their early twenties. What does this imply? This means that working in a Philippine call center is not just some backend job. You have opportunities to develop as a professional and can actually work on a career path.

The Next Elearning Development Step—3D Virtual Worlds

Posted by admin | Posted on 9:30 PM

I’ve browsed through countless of elearning development tools, software and trends, but nothing impressed or excited me more than Second Life’s immersive, 3D virtual world. I only learned about this today, when the Kapp Notes blog (karlkapp.blogspot.com) talked about the Virtual World’s Best Practices in Education Conference, which was held in the abovementioned environment.

The organizers used Second Life to hold an event in the virtual world where they presented a lot of interesting topics and discussions. It provided attendees with an experience of a traditional conference, but this time, they got to enjoy it in the comfort of their homes.

When I was looking at the captured scenes from the 3D conference, I immediately thought of the Sims game. The attendees were in the form of avatars that were designed to look like real people. They got to “walk” around the world and interact with different individuals and “listen” to discussions and participate in various learning activities. It was an extremely beneficial method of delivering information because the people were immersed in what the Kapp Notes blogger called an “effectively moving environment”.

I think that no matter what other people may think 3D is possibly the real future of elearning development. A lot of people are already familiar with such a setup, considering that role playing video games are extremely popular and appeal to a wide demographic. Young or old, a virtual classroom in 3D is very interesting. Moreover, the design Second Life avatars, partially, if not fully compensates for electronic learning’s infamous missing “human element”.

I believe that if used effectively, elearning courses can become even more accessible and engaging with Second Life’s 3D world, which is the ultimate goal of the instructional designers of today. It is the next logical step towards progress, especially for an industry that is solely dependent on technological advancements and the evolving needs and interests of society.

Foul Bay Review and Our Apartment Hotel Barbados Experience

Posted by admin | Posted on 3:00 AM

We chose foul bay because we wanted to go surfing. So we chose to stay at a low rates accommodation. Luckily we found one Barbados apartment hotel establishment that was not only inexpensive, it was also very lovely. It was near both Foul Bay and Long Beach, both were perfect for surfing (as generally, all East coast beaches are), but that time, the waves at Foul Bay were better. Here’s my review of Foul Bay.

Foul Bay Review
The first thing we did after checking in to our apartment hotel Barbados rooms was to drive straight to the beach to catch some waves. The beach was easy to find since there were a lot of road signs. On that day, there was just one lone vendor and not many people at all which was fantastic. The beach is generally stretched out far and was very quiet aside from the rough surf. I also loved the beautiful cliffs that surrounded the area.

If there is one word to describe that beach, it would be “tranquility.” The location is great for couples seeking a secluded romantic getaway. Our group pared off into couples and some of them surfing, the others just relaxing in the nice white sand and just enjoying the ocean ambiance and peacefulness. We were barely stayed in our apartment hotel Barbados rooms since.

It felt like we were living off the beach. A lot of us went them from morning till night. Packing lunches and dinners was no problem and having a picnic there was really fun. And even though nude sunbathing is illegal or at least frowned upon by local Barbados customs (it’s the effect of prude British culture since it was once a colony) Foul Bay beach had so many areas that was just secluded enough for anyone to go nude and have that flawless tan without any bikini lines. It was easy enough for the women to cover up right away when someone was approaching. But there weren’t much people there anyway.

I urge everyone to rent their apartment hotel Barbados accommodations near this fantastic beach!

Review: Things You Need to Use Elearning for Your Organization

Posted by admin | Posted on 11:34 PM

I know for a fact that organizations have integrated elearning into their business processes because it has made training and education a far more convenient and easier task without having to sacrifice efficiency and quality. I really believe that its popularity is inevitable and well-deserved given that it provided countless of benefits to so many individual.

elearning1

I am not an expert on the matter, but a lot of individuals have asked me how to bring electronic learning into their own organization without having to go beyond specific budgets and schedules. I keep telling them that the first thing that they have to do is to do a bit of internal assessment and determine whether or not elearning solutions are what they need by reviewing the following:

(1) Expected outcomes. If you know you need to measure the changes in your staff and need members to have an official certification, then a system with built-in testing solutions would be ideal for you.
(2) Way of Learning. Workers respond to different kinds of learning experiences. Figure out the most common learning skill and see if it would be best addressed by electronic learning.
(3) Learning location. Do your members have their own personal computers so they can easily integrate the program into their daily routines? If not, then it would be best to have a space in your facility where workers can participate in online learning.
(4) Need for Change. Some companies emphasize on effective initial training, while some work in a fast-paced industry that requires constant changes. Analyze your needs and how often you would need to change them.
(5) Source of Content. You should be prepared and know where you can get quality elearning content. You can employ the services of design experts or ask help from willing universities who can integrate their system into yours.

Noynoy 2010 commercial

Posted by admin | Posted on 1:01 AM

There is a new Noynoy 2010 television commercial advertisement that is being shown in television. Now, what I would like to comment here is that the new ad is obviously pandering to the youth. How can I tell? They the whole things has a “hip and now” vibe brought by the graphics and the music itself (which, is rap by the way).

So is this enough to beat the television barrage of Manny Villar? On my count, the Noynoy 2010 commercial plays only half the time the Manny Villar commercial plays. Manny Villar is really spending so much money. In my estimates, those television commercial spots alone are likely to cost, like, millions and millions already. But that is not the only thing that Manny is doing. He is also advertising profusely in the internet, in the radio, on billboards, and everywhere else! This is truly a man with a butt load of money. And what is scary is that if this man wins, we all know that he is most likely going to try to get all that money back. And how is he going to do this? He is going to steal from the people.

http://wemustcare.com/images/noynoy_aquino_3.jpg

Well, this is no surprise since the man has obviously done it before. He made the roads in the C5 project go directly to the subdivisions that he owned. This is an illegal use of public funds. He has diverted billions of the people’s money by doing this. Unforgivable. I hope it is Noynoy 2010 and not Villar who wins for 2010 which brings us to another infomercial that Noynoy Aquino released. He tells the audience that he is not a thief. And indeed, this may be his strongest characteristic that could set him apart from the rest of the politicians vying for presidency.

I Vote Will Noynoy Aquino for President

Posted by admin | Posted on 11:59 PM

I will vote Noynoy Aquino for president. There is nothing that will change my mind. I do not care about what the critics say. I do not care even if they say that Noynoy Aquino has no political will. Their arguments are not convincing. They do sound true at first. However upon further inspection, they really hold no water.

Noynoy is the scion of perhaps the greatest political family that the country has ever known. His father is true blue hero of the nation for crying out loud. And his mother, though not formally inaugurated into the fold of Philippine heroes, is a true national hero in her own right, what with all the sacrifices that she has made and all the things she has done for the country.

http://www.romblonprov.gov.ph/odiongan_councilor-3.gif

Those who say that others in the Aquino clan are not clean of scandal are not creating a logical argument against Noynoy Aquino for president. One cannot judge the character of Noynoy just because his relatives (and he himself) is part owner of that hacienda. It does not mean anything. Yes indeed the situation in that hacienda went severely out of hand and resulted to the deaths of the protestors. It was a tragic thing. Someone should have stopped it. But just because it happened to be the land of his relatives does not mean that he is responsible for that heinous crime. He actually just own a very small share of that land. He or his immediate family is not the people who ordered such a rash treatment of the farmers who were protesting.

I believe that Noynoy is a good man. I will vote Noynoy Aquino for president because of my firm belief in him. One can just sense this kinds of things. I know that I have always been a good judge of character, and whenever I see his face, I do not sense anything that would resemble guilt, guile, or corruption. He just might be the answer that the Philippine nation has long needed. We have suffered long enough in the hands of our corrupt government. It is as if every year, it is the same thing over and over again. Is there no one in this country that can straighten up our situation? I always hope for a better and more developed Philippines. I always pray that the corruption that bleeds our nation will finally stop. But now that I see Noynoy, I feel as if things might have a chance of changing. All our prayers might just have been answered. That is, if we voter Noynoy Aquino for president in this coming election.

Here is a little something about the Father of Noynoy

Mobile Elearning Should Die a Quick, Painless Death

Posted by admin | Posted on 5:41 PM

There are so many applications and programs related to electronic or online learning right now, it’s not even funny. Most of the time I’m impressed by the cleverness of it all, but sometimes, my eyebrows would shoot up in incredulity and disdain. I’m no expert in programming, customization of technology or whatever—but I can certainly say that I’m an expert consumer. An example of a stupid innovation, I think is mobile electronic learning.

I really wish that mobile elearning will die a quick, painless death. Not only is it an impractical and ineffective way to learn courses, but it is also a health hazard (eye strain, much?). I understand that mobile phones are becoming a vital tool used in both the personal and professional environments, but seriously, how can a person really learn and absorb information via 3-inch LCD screens?

Elearning on mobile phones is not taken, or never will be taken seriously by learners because learning is not instant. It takes a certain amount of time and effort driven by the right amount of motivation. No matter how much we wish to be like the characters in The Matrix who merely have to “download” skills and knowledge via computers, it’s not going to happen—within next couple of decades, at least. The point that I’m trying to establish is that quality learning takes time and comprehension. Mobile learning will not be able to satisfy this need, basically because staring at a tiny thing for a whole day everyday for a year will numb your mind, least of all your vision. It simply does not make any sense at all.

I appreciate the effort of developers to use trends in technology to boost the utilization of electronic learning in today’s society. It is an admirable practice to keep up with the changes and evolution of technology, people and culture. For instance, elearning has tapped into social media such as Facebook, Twitter, social bookmarking sites and so on. And everyone knows how big the roles of these social media are in their daily lives. It has become a necessary entity in the lives of people from all walks of the planet.

I guess mobile electronic learning is one of those “failed experiments” for the developers in the industry. But I know that they’ll come up with more creative and useful stuff in the future. They’ve come this far, after all. There’s no stopping them from coming up with the best application or software solution for the benefit of learners everywhere in the world.

I also learned that Adobe Elearning is pricey

Of Road Trips and Free Insurance Quotes

Posted by admin | Posted on 5:33 PM

Today, I am looking avidly for free insurance quotes. I want to get insurance but I also want to get the best deal. If I don’t search for free insurance quotes, I will not get as much bang for my buck. This is because a lot of insurance providers are very wily. They can smell if a person will get sucked into a deal that has a high rate which, on other circumstances, could actually be brought down to a very lower rate. This is the nature of sales. One will give a higher price for the object that is on demand right now simply because demand makes the price go higher, but market competition is what makes the price go lower. If a customer knew just how high the rates he or she is given by any sales agent as compared to the other rates available in the market, then he or she will not be easily swindled. This is why information is the key to getting a really good deal. And once again, this is where the importance of free insurance quotes is emphasized.

Driving down the highway with the top down feels great. You could probably even blast out loud one of your favorite songs. You could be with several of your fun friends. You could simply be with your significant other. Or you could even be just alone and enjoying the drive. Just imagine it; everybody loves going on a road trip. However, there is now some statistical surveys claiming that a lot of road accidents happen during such road trips. This is why it is important for people like me who enjoy road trips and long drives to have good insurance coverage. Start looking for free insurance quotes if you also want the best coverage for the best rate.

We Shouldn’t Automate California Car Insurance Quotes

Posted by admin | Posted on 9:43 PM

Technology has definitely changed the world and its inhabitants. However I must say that although technological advancements do have their benefits, technology zapped everyone into brainwashed, consumerists who are too lazy to do anything anymore. I mean, what is it with people nowadays and their obsession with the words ‘cheap’, ‘fast’ and ‘easy’? Has mankind really been reduced to dunderheaded, tight-fisted sloths? What happened to quality effort and the joy of hard work—the beauty of earning your way through the world? So once again, like I do every time I encounter an irksome matter related to such ‘modern’ nonsense, I firmly reiterate that cheap, fast and easy doesn’t necessarily mean quality!

The internet has now made it possible for people to compare and buy California car insurance quotes online. It’s as appealing as honey is to bees because it’s marketed as the new, cheap, fast and easy way to handle car insurance. What modern idiot would say no to the opportunity of doing everything while sitting on his ass?

http://www.icarinsurance.co.uk/images/car-insurance.jpg

Whenever you decide to do car insurance the new way, ask yourself these questions. How sure are you that you’re getting all the necessary information pertinent to your coverage needs if you use online means? How sure are you that your cheap premium guarantees you the best coverage protection?

I know I’m starting to come off as a hard core conservative, backward thinking person. But it’s just frustrating to observe how people can disregard important tasks and details simply because it’s harder and longer to accomplish. Free insurance quotes are important because they can make or break your coverage protection which is truly crucial in this world. All I’m saying is, why risk overlooking details and purchasing bad quality products?

It’s true that these conveniences are enjoyable, but up to what extent can we go on living this way? We must all remember that some things are just too important to automate. It’s as simple as that. Speaking of which, have you read this story about Insurance and Travelsyet?

On Noynoy Aquino and the Assassination Rumor

Posted by admin | Posted on 6:33 PM

Since is just about that time in the Philippine season, we are once again about to ask ourselves just who should we vote now that the election is nearing. At the moment, the leading candidates are Noynoy Aquino and Manny Villar. But according to the most recent surveys, it is Noynoy Aquino who is leading the race.

Right now, there is a big a rumor about the possible and likely assassination plot against Noynoy this is probably spread out by Noynoy’s camp because the obvious image or idea this evokes will be the same outcry and anger that the united Filipino people into revolt once before.

As the rumor goes, this assassination plot is supposed to create the way for another martial law era that will enable the current president Arroyo to stay in power by permanently and indefinitely delaying the coming presidential elections. This will also give her, as the rumor goes, a chance to increase her popularity and power (though obviously not because the Filipino people hate being put under martial law ever since Marcos did it).

The rumor is starting to spread into the middle tiers of Philippine society. And indeed it cannot simply be dismissed because there are real solid reasons why this assassination may take place. There is now a growing concern for the safety of Noynoy Aquino through the election days.

Overcoming Language Barriers with E-learning Tools

Posted by admin | Posted in | Posted on 6:06 PM

It is such a relief that there is an internationally recognized official language for communicating in education, business, science and government. The global use of English has saved mankind from the trouble of deciphering sign language and hassling nonverbal communication because of the diversity of languages and dialects in the world. People are assured that there is less misinterpretation and misunderstanding in important discourses and deals.

However, despite the recognition of English and its use in different countries, there are still a lot of people who are limited by their lack of proficiency in the language, which is quite a disadvantage because it is an accepted reality that having mastery of English can help pave the way towards success.

Overcoming barriers is really a difficult challenge. There are some people who find it difficult to adjust to new languages because of the strength of their accents and the great differences with how words are used, sentences structured, and nonverbal cues interpreted. This hindrance actually posed as a huge problem in education because how can you teach your language to person who has no clue what you are saying?

It’s a good thing that there are elearning tools that put E-learning ahead in the industry of education because of the availability and accessibility of language learning tools online. These tools, such as LessonWriter and Digital Dialects, can help students supplement their learning with translation programs and so on. Different companies and organizations are not limited to students who mainly speak English, because through these applications, foreign students who are unfamiliar or not proficient in English can translate the content material and in turn, learn their lessons.

E-learning tools are becoming more and more efficient and specific as they address the different needs of their students, both locally and internationally. The world of education has been revolutionized, opening its doors to diversity.
